How Do Visits Work
How Do Visits Work
In general, visits take place every other week. They can be more or less often depending on what you need and want. For example, you may choose weekly visits for a while right after your baby is born. You and your nurse can work together to come up with a schedule that fits your needs.
Visits usually happen at your home. There may be times you choose to meet at some other location. Some of our favorites are libraries, parks, coffee shops, and our office at the Lane Center. (hyperlink to our address)
Visits usually are about an hour long. Sometimes you may choose more time, sometimes less depending on what you and your nurse want to talk about together.
During visits your Nurse Home Visitor will
Listen to you and your family, learn about your life and dreams and support you to set goals for your future
Provide information and resources to assist you and your baby in areas like pregnancy health, preparing for delivery, caring for a baby, baby’s health, baby’s growth and development, parenting, and finding work, going to school and accessing the things you need to have a successful life.
During a visit you will:
Decide who will be present during the visits
Set goals for you and your baby
Ask for information and resources you are interested in or need for yourself, your family and your baby
Celebrate the goals you reach
